MY DOG BILL.
(By Chrissie Kelly, Matai Road, Henderson.) He is so friendly, And full of fun, He cornea to meet me, When work is done. He is always obedient, And conies when I call, He playfully chases. Each straying ball. He goes off to the meadows, To chase a bird, And when milking time comes, He brings in the herd.
THE WIND.
(By Velma Shaw, 26, Devon Street, Rotorua.) Skipping and dancing through the trees, Rustling the pretty autumn leaves, Playing in the sunlight with the bees, Rocking the birdies in the eaves. The wind goes moaning in the night, Giving small timid children a fright, Tossing about the white-capped waves, Moaning in some hidden caves. Singing a sav and happy song, As it merrily bowls along, Turning round the great mill wheels, ®ill the flour ie ground to meal.
THE KOWHAI TREE.
(By Chrissie Kelly, Matai Road, Henderson.) Beside the never-ending stream, Along the banks so brown, Stands the kowhai all sedate, In her lovely golden gown. A merry breeze plays all around, Ruffling up her frills, It dances with the water below, And turns it into rills. The kowhai stands like a stately queen, In her beauty frail, A passing breeze wafts her fragrance down, Over the peaceful dale. The bellbird ie her songster, At royal commands, he sings, Then through- the air, his notes peal forth, With clear and bell-like rings.
the castle.
By Ray Friend, Glen-Murray, P. 0., via Tuakau.) Po! Mr. Fisherman, Have you seen a castle? A newish sort of castle, I'm sure it must be there. I built it in the twilight. With brown sand, with firm sand, And when I looked this morning, It wasn't anywhere!
