STAMPED OUT.
NAZI SPY ACTIVITY,
UNMASKING IX SCANDINAVIA.
STOCKHOLM,
A vast and elaborate German spy
organisation has just been unmasked in •Scandinavia by the Swedish, Danish, Norwegian and Finnish police forces.
Jn Denmark the organisation already has been broken up by arresting fourteen Germans and seizing documents which have revealed full details of their working methods and personnel.
In Finland the I.K.L. party, which had strong Nazi tendencies, has been dissolved, which dealt a blow to the *pies in this country by making their work more difficult.
In Sweden a few Germans suspected <>f sending information, acquired illegally, to their home country have been nrrestcd. Many other Germans thought to be carrying on illicit activities and I o lie possible dangers to the State will Wj permanently watched.
This work is to be carried out by an entirely new section of the Swedish State police. Between 200 and 300 secret detectives are shortly to be engaged for the purpose of surveying Xazi spies. .
The existing force did not include enough detectives to satisfy the needs of the present situation. There is little crime in Sweden, other than cases of driving cars while under the influence of drink, so few criminal detectives so far have been employed. The activities of # spies have necessitated a change in this policy.
It is understood that similar measures were contemplated recently in Denmark, but the police are satisfied that their arrests have stamped out the orginisation, which was the G.H.G. for Scandinavia. "... .
