TAXIMEN'S THREAT.
PASSENGERS FROM LINERS,
SHORT-LIVED BOYCOTT. I The.threat of the taxi drivers yesterday to boycott all liners arriving at the port 011 account of alleged grievances concerning the 'transport of passengers from the wharves lias been withdrawn, a satisfactory settlement of the trouble, which came to a head when the Orient liner Oronsay berthed yesterday, having been achieved. Some 70 taxi drivers waiting for fares yesterday when the cruise ship arrived left* the wharf in a body and refused to accept any business from the ship.
After a general meeting of the drivers' conferences took place yesterday afternoon between representatives appointed by the taxi drivers and the authorities concerned, and these were brought to 'a successful conclusion.
