Pension Scheme in Britain to Be Adopted. TAX 'ON PRESENT MEMBERS. British" Official "Wireless. (Received 1.30 p.m.)' RUGBY, February .2. Sir, Assheton Pownall, in the House of Commons/moved a private member's motion for the adoption of a scheme for pensions for past members of'the House over GO years of age, with less than £3. a week on which, to live.
With reference to the scheme, Sir Assheton said that £1 a month deducted from the salary of all'members of the House of Commons would yield £7000 a year. The pensions -would be at the rate of £150 a year for members needing them.
Mr. Chamberlain, supporting the motion, pointed out that the scheme imposed no charge on public funds. The motion was carried by 204 votes to 103.
