FAMOUS BROOD MARE FOR KIA ORA STUD.
The Xew Zealand brood mare Quadrilateral, dam of the A..T.C. Derby winner, Homer, ban been l>ought by Mr. P. F. Miller for bis Kia Ora stud, Scone, New South Wales. The purchase was made at the recent Elderslie stud sale. Mr. Miller paid 525 guineas for Quadrilateral, who has a filly foal at foot—a full sister to Homer—and ia in foal to Solicitor General (imp.). Quadrilateral is one of New Zealand's most famous brood mares, but her stock have been unlucky. A few days after dead-heating with Allunjra. in the ]S>3."> Derby, Homer broke his leg while winning the Craven Plate. Another foah Rob Roy, who was raced by Mr. Alillei. and was a -strong fancy for the 1037 Melbourne Cup, broke a small bone in a leg and did not race again. Homeric, a full brother to Homer, was sold in Sydney as a yearling last year for 1800 guinea*, and later brought 1900 guinea*, but hae had few start*, and is still a maiden.
