LANDS DEPARTMENT.
ADMINISTRATIVE STAFF. SEVERAL PROMOTIONS MADE. Following the retirement of Mr. R. A. Rodger, land purchase inspector in the Lands and Survey Department at Wellington, several important changes have been made in the administrative staff. Successor to Mr. Rodger will be Mr. W. D. Armit, Commissioner of Crown Lands for the North Auckland district. Mr. Armit joined the Department in 1905. For many years he was engaged in field surveys in the Nelson, Ota-go nnil Auckland districts. He was appointed chief draughtsman at New Plymouth in 1923, being later promoted to Commissioner of Crown Lands and chief surveyor at Taranaki. He was appointed to his present post in 1933. He will take up his new duties in Wellington on February 1. *■ The office of Commissioner of Crown Lands, North Auckland, will be filled ■ by Mr. L. J. Poff, chief surveyor in Christchurch. He was formerly chief draughtsman in Auckland. Mr. W. E. Shaw, chief accountant in Wellington, has been appointed Commissioner of Crown Lands at Dtinedin. Hie position will be filled by Mr. G. I. Beeson, of the North Auckland office. The vacancy as deputy-Commissioner of Crown Lands for North Auckland, caused by Mr. Beeson's promotion will be filled by Mr. E. Peck, at present accountant. Mr. O. H. Burns, who was recently transferred, from the State Advances Corporation, will take the position of accountant.
