FLAGS AT THAMES.
OCVERNOR-GZITERAI/B VISIT. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this^ay. Street*, buildings and private dwellings in Thames made a colourful display with flag 9 and bunting yesterday when their Excellencies, Lord and Lady Galway, visited the town. The Viee-Regul party was met on its arrival from Paeroa at the entrance to the King's Theatre by the Mayor, Mr. S. Ensor. The speaker* at the civic welcome were the Mayor, Mr. J. Thorn, M.P., Mr. H. Lowe, chairman of the Thamea County Council, Mr. C. Parfitt, chairman of the Hauraki Plains County Council, and Mr. T. Watene, on behalf of the Maori race. There was a large attendance of the public, including member* of the Returned Soldier*' Association, Fire Brigade and the Regimental Band. Lord Galway, in his official reply, thanked the speakers for their warm welcome and expressions of loyalty and made reference to the high standing of the Hauraki Regiment.
