COUNCILLOR'S BLAZER. MR. E. ALDRIDGE COMPLAINS. The gay cherry hue of a blazer worn to a Devouport Borough Council meeting by a member last evening did not meet with the approval of the deputyMayor, Mr. E. Aldridge, -who drew the attention of the Mayor to the fact that the rules of the council had certain provisions regarding the dress to be worn by councillors at meetings. "However, we see here to-night a councillor clad in a flaming blazer adorned with badge*," he said. "I aslc whether it would be correct procedure for him to retain his seat or not?" The Mayor, Mr. H. F. W. Meikle, eaid the councillor in question was young, but it was just as well that his attention had been drawn to the matter, of dress so that he could wear more conventional attire to future meeting*. There were broad smiles round the council table a« the Mayor called for lipt I—hi— on the sprit.'
