ASLEEP IN CAR.

HASTINGS MAN GAOLED. TWO PREVIOUS CONVICTIONS. 1 (By Telegraph—Press Association.) HASTINGS, Monday. A plea by counsel that accused's employer would be forced to dispense with his services if his driving license was cancelled did not avail in the Napier Magistrate's Court to-day, when Alick McMillan, of Hastings, was sentenced to 14-days' imprisonment and his license was cancelled for 12 months, when he was convicted of being intoxicated in charge of a car. Accused had two previous convictions, and on this occasion was found sleeping in his car in a Napier street. The magistrate stated that the case might be described as a borderline one, but as he had issued a warning six weeks ago in connection with intoxication charges he had no option but to impose a term of imprisonment.
