Mansell, one «f four British plain-clothes constables at Jaffa, charged,with unjustifiably killing an Arab, who was alleged to have been, ■hot when attempting to escape from prison. The Court held that Man*ell was justified in firing in view ot/the appalling conditions in Jaffa. A special Court at Jerusalem sentenced Wood to three years' imprisonment on January 11 for attempted manslaughter, ■wl Mansefl to one year for attempted bodily harm. The other two constables «m bound over for, a year, but according to a cablegram received the next day they were later rearrested. Wood and ■smell appealed against the conviction.

The Arab delegates to the conference la London concerning h settlement in Palestine leave Port- said on Tuesday. The Grand Mufti has agreed that two members of the Arab Opposition party will attend as observers. IRAQ OPPOSITION. GRAND MUFTI'S POLICY. CAIRO, January 23. The Prime Minister of Iraq, General Nuri es Said, flew to Beirut in an attempt to overcome the Grand Mufti's opposition to the representation of all Palestine parties at the London conference. The followers of the Mufti threaten to boycott the conference if the Palestine National Defence party is represented.
