DEFENCE WORK.
WOMEN IN A.R.P. (From Our Own Correspondent.) SYDNEY, January 19. Women will l>c given a chance to participate in defence work, under the State A.R.P. scheme, as nurses, first-aid workers, sh'elter attendants, and in charge of children evacuated to the country. Boy scouts will also be used as warning patrols, and to construct and organise refugee camps, work for which their scout training admirably adapts them. People living in fairly open districts will be sheltered in trenches, but in closely settled areas evacuation is planned. If it ever became necessary, private cars would be commandeered for transport purposes.
