BETTER MOTORING ROADS.

This last year or two we have heard a lot of twaddle about the waste of public money by Mr. Semple, the Minister of Public Works. I would like to give Mr. Scrapie and the men on the Public Works all the praise in the world for the work they are doing on the roads of this country. I was one of a party of twelve people that left Auckland by car for a holiday/, at Kotorua on December 24, and during our trip we visited all the sights to he seen. The roads were a pleasure to ride on. Certainly * some were not yet sealed and were a little dusty, but the roads were without potholes or anything of that kind. We enjoyed every'' minute we were on the road in the car, and if Mr. Semple and his men have done nothing else, they have made motoring a pleasure for those lucky enough to own a car (which I am not) and able to make the most of their holidays. LAKE TAUPO.
