Heart Attack Reported Not as Serious as Feared. CONDITION IMPROVES. (Received 11.30 a.m.) LONDON, December 19. Reuter's Rome correspondent says that the Pope had a heart attack. • At first it was stated that his condition was alarming, but later it was reported that the Pope had recovered, the attack being not as serious as feared. A message from Vatican City says that it is understood that the Pope expects to carry out his usual audiences to-morrow. He did not grant audiences to-day. CELEBRATION OF MASS. HEART ATTACK DENIED. Independent Cable Service. (Received 12 noon.) ROME, December 19. Officials of the Vatican deny the Pope had a heart attack. They say he will celebrate Mass to-morrow on the 60th anniversary of his entry into the priesthood.
