STABLE DOUBLE.

CANADIAN — GREAT SONOMA. OTHER PROMISING SORTS. The Epsom trainer C. M. Morrison produced tile unhoppled trotters Canadian and Great Sonoma in fine racing condition at Claudelands, and driving them wit'h excellent judgment he had the satisfaction of winning both events for horses of that gait. If Canadian survives training he should go on winning, but Great Sonoma is now on . a mark from which be will probably find it difficult to score.

Morrison drove Great Sonoma more judiciously than he did a week earlier, when the Sonoma Harvest gelding was up with the leader with a round to go, after starting from 144 yds behind. The result was that he had nothing in reserve for an extra effort at the finish. On Saturday Morrison was content to make up his ground gradually, and with three furlongs to go Great Sonoma was trailing the leaders, Xelson Chief, Barney Bingen. Reception, .Decoy Bird and Ohudic. Once in line for the judge Morrison drove Great Sonoma along; and just wore Reception down to win by a neck.

" "Decoy Bird, who used to race as a pacer, was responsible for a very good race, and it should not be long before G. T. Mitchell, the Cambridge trainer, drives him to victory- Decoy Bird i« by Wrack from Lone Bird. Mitchell has a very strong team at present, and it includes Lynn Rey, Electric Ray, Tangatu, Adversity, Decoy Bird and Elsie Hamlyn.

Another former pacer in Chudic, who was having his second run free legged, was always prominent, never putting a foot wrong throughout the journey, and he finished as well as anything in the race. He is by Drusus from a Harold Oil lbn mare, and is owned and trained by Mr. C. Moran, at Hamilton.
