The school year is almost over. Tliou-amls of how and jjirls arc free from the worry of examinations, and even homework is dwindling away. Dreams of the lonjr. happy summer holiday wliicli -tarts next week are on the eve of realisation. At the same time, however, this week is an extremely important ami lm-y one for moet secondary and schools and for some of the primary school*. It is prize-oivinir week, when hundreds of pupils carry away hooks and cups and trophies that give tangible recognition of good wurk they have done in the classroom and on the playing field, and when pnmd parents vi-it the schools to see honour done to their successful sons and daughters.

Already the Seildon Memorial Technical l'idle-so. the Dihvorth School. Sacred Heart < and other institutions have held their annual ceremonies, hut there will lie many more before the week

"Parents* afterno.ms"' were held this afternoon at the Kpsoni Girls' Grammar School. St. ( utlllici t s t'olleoe and the Dioioati Hioli School for Girls. Tomorrow mornino the Auckland Girls' Oi ain mar School will hold its [»rizezzi\ iiiij function, and in tiie iiftornoon those of Kinn's School, the Auckland Grammar School and the Otalmhu Technical Hivh School will take place. Awards will be presented to Mount Albert, Epsom and Takapuna Grammar pupils to-morrow evening. The Kind's College ceremony is fixed for Frida v afternoon.
