FARMERS ELATED.
| NAPIER WOOL SALE. BEST FLEECE EVER SEEN. Wool buyers were amazed at the high quality of the wool offered at the Napier Kale yesterday after hearing that the farmers of the Rawke's Bay district had experienced the hardest winter on record. The good prices they paid pleased the farmers and gave aome compensation for the difficult time they have been through. The district produces some of the highest quality crossbred wool in the world and yesterday's offering wa« the best ever seen in Napier. The fleece was well grown, clean and bright, in spite of the ravage* of storms, floods and disease. This was particularly pleasing, as in recent years there have been signs of a fallitig-ofT in quality. Buyers -expected that the slips caused by storm*, awl the etrong winds experienced before shearing time, would have resulted in the fleece being dirty, but a spell of good weather made conditions ideal at the critical moment. Hawke's Bay farmers were fortunate, of course, in that their flocks were not affected "j by the eczema outbreak in the autumn to anything like the same extent that Waikato sheep suffered.
