MILK TESTS MADE.
ONLY SIX BELOW STANDARD.
AUCKLAND CITY AND SUBURBS.
During October, lfll samples of milk were taken in Auckland city and suburbs by officers of the Department of Health.
This was revealed in a report from the Department submitted at to-day's meeting of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council. Mr. H. F. W. Meikle presided in the absence of Mr. I. J Gohlstine.
The butterfat average was 4.44 per cent ami six samples failed to comply with the standard required, the report continued. All the samples were taken from shops.
Of those that failed to comply two were deficient in butterfat. two did not comply with the reductase test, one contained added water, and the remaining one was deficient in solids other than fat. Three warnings were issued an explanation was called for from one vendor, while action was under consideration in the remaining eases. On the iforth eight samples gave a butterfat average of 4.78 per cent, all the samples complying with the standard. The report —tekwd.
