ONEHUNGA COUNCIL.
DECISIONS OF MEETING. In connection with the report of the Onelmnga Borough Council meeting on Monday evening, as published in the "Star,"' the Mayor of Onehunga, Mr. A. ■Garside, writes: "Unfortunately, there will be conveyed to the readers a wronpr impression of certain matters dealt with at this meeting, possibly on account of condensing the report for publication. This applies particularly to Gloucester Park, for which a sports body has applied for a lease. The report says that the terms suggested were favourable to the sports 'body, but the application was declined. Actually the terms favourable or otherwise had nothing to d»> with the council's decision, which was based entirely on the opinion that the possibilities of the area should be fully investigated before a. lease is granted. In connection with the reference to swimming baths, this item was not deferred for financial reasons, but consideration of its financial aspects was deferred until the newly-appointed engineer has taken up his duties and is in a position to advise the council."
