HEAVY WOOL IMPORTS.

MANUFACTURERS CONCERNED. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") DUNEDTN, Tuesday. At the annual meeting of the Mosgicl Woollen tympany, the chairman of directors, Mr. J. S. Hislop, inter alia, said: "The sixty-fifth year of the company's operations has been a most difficult one. We are still faced with increasing costs, and heavy importations both from Britain and Australia make selling of our goods' more difficult. That our sales are as large as they are is due to the very energetic and loyal work of our staff. "We ire still hopeful that very soon something will be done by the Government to help secondary industries in their difficulties. As an example of what New- Zealand woollen mills have to contend with, for the months January to August. 1937. there were 4.626.000 square yards of j woollen and worsted piece goods imported into New Zealand, as against 1.319,000 square yards imported into the whole of Australia."
