MILITARY HONOURS.
BRIDGE TRAGEDY VICTIM. FUNERAL AT PAPATOETOE. With full, military honours, the funeral of one of the Auckland victims of the Taihape bridge tragedy. Gunner &auriee~ Thomas Moore, aged 18, of Carruth Road, Papatoetoe, was conducted at Papatoetoe cemetery yesterday. The Royal New Zealand Artillery supplied a representative detachment and Bring party, comprising 35 officers and other ranks, under the command of Major F. N. Nurse, of the Australian Staff Corps, officer commanding at North Head. The cortege was received by the military guard of honour as it left Otahuhu, where there was a Urge assembly of the public. On the way to Papatoetoe the cortege passed the Papatoetoe District School, where deceased was educated, and the schoolchildren lined the roadside in token of respect. At the cemetery gates the firing party, with arms reversed, and the escort received the cortege. The coffin, draped with thA Union Jack and bearing Gunner Moore's service cap and side-arms, 'was* carried by military bearers under the charge of WarrantOfficer Chambers. The service was con* ducted by the Rev. E. B. Moore, vicar of Papatoetoe. Three volleys were discharged over the grave and the "Last vii sounded by & bugler.
