WELL REPRESENTED

takanini horses. FOUR IN ALISON CUP. CANDIDATES FOB. CT.T.tiPff T ,jp Takanini has thirty-four acceptors for the Auckland meeting on Saturday, and both in quantity and quality they represent a very strong contingent. Those accepted for are: Maxam, Penzance, Bronwen, Lysis, Romani, Estro, Palustre, Paddy the Rip, inver, Arvakur, Round Up, Grateful, Valamito, Hot Box, Orelio, Princess Val, Gladynev, Te Poto, Brazilian, High Sea, Pleuron. Loch Mara, Inquisitor, Glenconnell, Mia Acrea, Hunting Cape, Poklr nV""' s on ®f» r > Koycvrns, Our Jean, Poker Dice Bachelor King, Dauber, Pocket y~ nd G S y °Jf al - 0f th '*e the unlikely «re B raz |l Jan whom D. J..Burgess TTi W | OU "°t,, a competitor on SaturT?ik f g i• has bee » rehandicapped 171b for his double success at the Waikato meeting, and Poker Dice, who pulled U p morni^ me p B |, galloping on Tuesday morning. Poker Dice apparently suffered a recurrence of his former trouble, and he may be off the scene indefinitely. R ? Up, Valamito, Grateful and pr,M„°V n i he Alls ? n Cup ' «nd Arvakur, Paddy the Rip and Inver in the open sprint, F. Smith haa a very strong hand, but supporters of the stable will be set a ■tiff task to pick a winner from the quartet in the first-named event. Paddy the £.'P,'s undoubtedly the choice for the Cheltenham Handicap, but the four Cup horses have winning form to recommend them, and all have prospects. Seldom has any one stable held such a strong combination. Round Up, despite his weight, is sure to run well, while Valamito, on Te Itapa form, will also be dangerous.

Grateful won decisively at Avondale, and while the field on that occasion did not measure up to the standard of this event, he cannot be left out of calculations, riot Box failed at Te Rapa, but he has always given the impression that he may be l>etter suited over a distance, and he is a three-year-old who may be one of tlie nrst of his age to score in handicap company. Valamito, who is at the top of hig foijn, is very consistent and seldom runs a bad race, and he will be the hardest to beat with a good run. Maxam is to contest the Takapuna Plate, and she is a brilliant beginner -who has done extremely well of late, despite the fact that sprinting appears to be her forte. It would occasion no surprise to find her equal to the task of- winning at seven furlongs.

May Make Amends. The two-year-olds form a very strong team for honours in the juvenile events. Orelio is likely to receive strong local support, for he has recovered his form again, and by virtue of several impressive track gallops of late his admirers may find him making amends for his Welcome Stakes failure. Glenconnell has gone on the right way since his two creditable efforts at Avondale, and having now had the benefit of racing experience he should be capable of a good effort. Lysis, fourth in the Musket Stakes, is worthy of consideration, as she is now free from the soreness which has prevented her from racing of late. Glad.vnev, a robust colt by Musketoon-•-Caviare, is promising, and he will be heard from later, while Princess Yal, third at Avondale, is likely to make a showing. Hunting Cape and Little Star have not shown enough form in public to merit consideration. Mia Acrea has gone on the right way since winning at Avondnlo. and as a result of that form should be difficult to dispose of in the hurdles on Saturday. He sticks on rather well and has another opportunity of extending his record.

Penzance and Te Poto are a likely pair for the MiKord Handicap, Te Poto having run third to and Ngakaru at Avondale and fourth at Te Rapa. Te Poto is apparently not far from her best again, and she should not be long in scoring her initial success this season. Penzance, a winner at Whangarei, and the pacemaker for the greater part of the Apprentices' Handicap at Avondale, should be in line at the finish of this event if she repeats that form.

Inquisitor disappointed at Te Rapa, but may be seen to better advantage on Saturday, while Dauber is another hack with prospects at the meeting. While the fields he beat at Cambridge and Rotorua were a mediocre lot. he won easily, and is apparently a useful sort. Dauber is a greatlyimproved gelding with the racing he has done at recent meetings. Wall-bred Novices. Among the novices are some likely improvers, of whom more will be heard later on. Bronwen, a mare by Cambria Park—Recipio, made creditable showings at Avondale, and slight improvement on those efforts should find her acquitting herself well. Pleuron, an Australian-bred gelding by Calydon, hailing from D. J. Burgess' stable, has been working very well, and with experience should prove useful, while the same remarks apply to Estro, a three-year-old filly by Tea Tray— Tambourine, attached to E. Pope's stable. Loch Mara, by Te Mononui—Conneniara, trained by C. Morse, is a solid individual showing some promise. Valimeen, the speedy daughter of Vaals the meeting; and few will forget the speed she displayed when winning as a two-year-oUl at the last Auckland autumn meeting. Valimeen looks ready and should soon be seen to advantage. Royevrus is an acceptor for the Pupuke Plate on Monday and should come in for solid support. Fifth in the big handicap at Te Rapa on Monday, Royevrus acquitted himwelf very well in his first attempt at a handicap distance. He is at the top of hia form and will probably be capable of atoning for his unlucky defeat in the Nihotapu Plate at the last Avondale meeting. Anopheles is going along very nicely without being asked any serious questions, and the Vaals filly has grown a great deal of late. She is not to race again until the Great Northern Foal Stakes at the Christmas meeting, when she will be ridden by the southern rider L. J. Ellis.

During the last few days there have been a couple of recent arrivals at Takanini. these being Gael, who has been .brought from the Waikato to A. Tinker's stable, and Mingle, who is now a member of E. Pope's team. Gael is intended for hurdle racing, and he is stated to be a very proficient novice in this department, while Mingle is a two-year-old by Hunting Song from the Some Boy 11. mare Some Lady. Mingle was formerly trained at Avondale.

Gay Movie was eased up after the Avondale meeting, but is again in work in preparation for the Christmas meeting. Gay Movie, who ranks as a half-sister to Gay Talkie, showed a lot of promise earlier in the season. She has failed to win so far, but has been in the money on three occasions and her turn should come. Picture, the dam of the above-mentioned pair, has thrown a colt foal to Vaals.
