Captain D. Henderson, of Wellington, is visiting Auckland. Mr. L. G Springhall, of Wellington, is paying a business visit to Auckland. Mr. F. B. Christmas returned to Auckland by the Limited express from Wellington this morning. Mr. M. C. Staple-ton returned by the Limited express this morning after a short visit to Wellington. Bishop Liston has returned to Auckland after a confirmation tour of the parishes of the Far North. Dr. T. W. J. Johnston returned from a brief visit to Wellington by th« Limited express this morning. Mr. J. H. Mason arrived from Wellington by the Limited express thil morning: He will return South by train this evening. Mr. H. Chappell, of Rawene, clerk to the Hokianga County Council, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, London. The Hon. Mr. Justice Johnston, ol Wellington, accompanied bv Mrs. Johnston, arrived at Auckland from Wliangarei last evening. Dr. T. A. Creswell-George, accompanied by Mrs. Creswell-George. was a passenger from Auckland for Wellington by air this morning. Sir Benjamin Fuller arrived from Wellington by the Limited express thi» morning, and is at the Royal Hotel. H« will leave for Australia by the Mariposa to-morrow evening. Mr. A. R. Grierson, accountant for the Bank of New Zealand in Auckland, is to retire on superannuation as from the end of this month. He will be succeeded by Mr. J. W. Cawley, at present assistant accountant, while Mr. J. D. Fairgray will become assistant accountant. Mr. Griersou has been connected with banking in the Dominion since 1895, and lias been accountant at the Auckland branch of the Bank of New Zealand for the past eight years.
