GOOD HUNTER.
DAUBER WINS WELL
BRACELET AT CAMBRIDGE.
NOTES ON RECENT FORM,
Dauber, a gelding trained by A. Tinker at 1 akanini, made his appearance in the Ladies' Bracelet at the Pakuranga meeting and ran unplaced. He was next produced in a similar event at Cambridge on Monday, and, joining Ureklaw in the lead before the straight was reached, went on to win handsomely. He was well ridden by Mr. M. O'Connor, who is one of the best gentlemen riders in the Dominion, and his pilot rode an excellently judged race. Dauber is engaged in the Highweight Handicap at Rotorua next Saturday and he should again give a good account of himself. It was pleasing to see his trainer, who is a most excellent horseman, get a win, for his luck has not been too good for some time past.
HAVE PLENTY OF SPEED. The maiden candidates Electric Spear and Oriental Bay were allowed to forego their engagements at the Waikato Hunt meeting on Labour Day. However, there is nothing amiss with these gallopers, and they will be seen in action at Whangarei next week. Both these geldings are endou'ed with abunda:»-c of speed and should eventually imiko good when they have had the necessary experience.
..a....................... I DOING EASY TASKS. The hurdler Full of Scotch, who recently joined J. L. Gray's, team, is doing easy work around the roads at present. He is in good order to undergo a further preparation, and it will not be long before he joins the regular workers at Kllerslie. IN TWO EVENTS. Mia Fratollo has been paid up for in two races —the High-weight Handicap and the Hack (.'up— at the Rotorua meeting, and if started in the former event he should give ! a good account of himself. He won the j high-weight at the corresponding meeting . twelve months ago, and the class engaged in that event is not so formidable aa on the former occasion. FAILED AT CAMBRIDGE. Forest Acre had another defeat registered against him at the Waikato Hunt | meeting. However, he ran a fair race, and may do better at the Rotorua-Bay of Plenty meeting, where he hag a dual engagement. As the Acre gelding requires a firm track in order to reveal his best, he will have conditions to suit him during the next few months. DEATH OF TIDALIA. Advice has been received by Mr. Gerald Stead that Tidalia, whom he bought on behalf of a Fijian client, died at Suva recently. While at Suva she won several races. She was by Tidal from March, and therefore came from the same family as Te Kara, Queen March, King Match, Gay Marigold and others. FOALINGS AT TRELAWNY. The following foalings are announced from Mr. L. S. Otwav's Trelawny stud at Cambridge:—To Foxbridge: Rose Latour, brown colt: Merry Way. brown filly: Speedmint. brown colt; Air Lassie, brown filly; Fantastic, black filly: Ameola, black filly. To Veneer: Purple Minstrel, brown colt: Lady Romeo, brown colt; Pelagia, chestnut filly: Astarth, chestnut colt; Prolyxo. bay filly; Hyades. brown colt; Lalla Quex, brown colt; Abbey Dream, brown colt. A LIKELY IMPROVER. Waka. who ran third to Dainty Sue and La Toquet in the Ruahine Handicap at Trentham on Mondav. is likely to see a much better day. He is a five-year-old gilding by Tractor from Calico, and is therefore a half-brother to the jumper Luna Lux. Waka is a powerfully built gelding, whose conformation suggests that, if given the opportunity later on. he should develop into a payable proposition as a jumper. GOING ON THE RIGHT WAY. The stablemates Tip Toes and Bonnybelle have both gone on the right way since they appeared in public and are well forward for coming engagements. All going well in the interim, this pair will race at the Whangirei meeting and should go well against the class they will be meeting there. Tin Toes has previously won on the northern course and she should be worth following next week. MADE A GOOD START. Although he has no immediate engagements. K*>llv is being kept up to the mark bv F. Gilchrist and is bowling along as freelv as ever in his work. Bv winning at his first <--tirt th'o season. Kcllv has m-'de good niiicklv. and he is likely to extend hi* record before the season is much further advanced. The son of Kilbronev is due to "iake his next apoearanre at Avondale in November, and liis partiality for the suburban course is worth keeping in mind. PARTIAL TO THE COURSE. For several weeks past Tybalt hag been doing the bulk of his work on the tar track, and it evidently agrees with him judged by his condition. This gelding ii down to contest the Whangarei Cup. an event he won twelve months ago, so solir support ia likely to be forthcoming foi him. In his last four starts at the Wha ngarei meeting Tybalt. has won the chie flat event on two occasions and ran seconc and third respectively in his other races— ft good record. A FINE PERFORMANCE. When Ringshot ran second to Jayola ii the Normanby Handicap at the recen Auckland meeting, he put up a first-rat performance, being narrowly beaten ii fast time. Summed up on that form, thi prospects of Ringshot winning a race a the Whangarei meeting look bright. It i some time since Ringshot won a race, bu his turn may soon arrive, for he is » fi horM.
