Mr. Addison described Holloway's apse us being absolutely unaccountable because of his previous* excellent character. He was deeply sorry for what ho had done and wanted to "make restitution in full. "He unexpectedly o-ot an opportunity to come to Auckland from Whangarei and unfortunately while in the city he got in with some undesirable companion* with the result that the week-end extended into more than a month." said counsel. "He did not brin" much money with him. While in a drink-sodden state lie committed these offences. As he has been in prison for 14 daw and in view of his previous good record, I would ask your Worship" not to send him to prison." The Magistrate: It is a very doubtful case for probation. He i-ould hardly be on a drinking bout for so long. Holloway was sentenced to three months' imprisonment on one of the charges and on the others he was Admitted to probation for two years and ordered to make restitution of £47 0/.
