AGREEMENT ALLEGED.

GOVERNMENT AND BAKERS.

BREAD PRICES TO GO UP. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN, Wednesday. Allegations that the Labour Government had come to an agreement with the Master Bakers' Association to allow them to increase the price of bread owing to the increase in wages under the new award, were made at, Macandrew Bay to-night by the National candidate for the Dunedin Central seat, Mr. W. J. Meade. i

"At the present time you know that the price of bread ie fixed at 1/ for a large loaf." said Mr. Meade, "and sellers are not allowed to dispose of it at lees than that price unless it is stale, when they may sell it at 2/0 a sack. The Labour Government has entered into an agreement with the Master Bakers' Association by which the price of bread is going to be increased. One of the terms is that the decision shall not be disclosed until after the election.

"This condition was made." Mr. Meade concluded, "»o that if the National party goes into power—as it will —the blame of the increase will fall on the new Government."
