Acceptances for the first day of the Auckland Racing Club's spring meeting, to lie held on October 8 and 10, and final payments for the Great Xorthern Guineas and Welcome Stakes, close with the secretary. Mr. W. S. Spence, at 5 p.m. on Friday. DEATH OF A FILLY. Mr. L. A. Prangley sustained a severe loss a few days p«o, when a filly by Foxbridge from Greyland died on his farm at Otahnhu. The youngster was a half-sister to Landlubber and Mainland. HORSES AT THE BARRIER. At Ellerslie this morning a number of two-year-olds and older horses were given barrier practice. They were sent away from the seven-furlong post, and several of them were allowed to sprint a few furlongs. Those to participate were Konneta, Chelandry, Bide-a-Wee, * High Caste, Royal Abb, Norse Lady. Eudorace, Atta .Tack, and Kenepeckle. When they were let go Konneta began very smartly and led Royal Abb, Kenspeckle and Chelandry by several lengths to th'e half-, mile post. She was timed to run the three furlongs in 38 3-as, an attractive effort considering her limited experience.
