I ANNUAL FUNCTION.

ST. MARY'S OLD GIRLS.

The St. Mary's College Old Girls' - ssociation held it« annual reunion at bt. Marv s College, Ponsonbv, on Sunday. September 2.3, when some 200 girls rom all parts of Xew Zealand were present at the celebrations. i The day commenced with a Missa Cantata and General Communion in the Convent Chapel. The celebrant of the Mass was the Rev. Father Lavelle, and the assisting choir of Sisters, who gave an exquisite and unforgettable rendering of the Gregorian Chant, included among its members several old girls of the school.

-After Mass a luncheon, served according to gracious custom bv the Sisters themselves, was held in tlie college dining hall, to which a festive appearance had been given bv looj)ed streamers and a gay profusion of flowers arranged with the contrasting blues of the school colours. A brief address was made by His Lordship. Bishop Liston, in which he congratulated the Sifters and the association upon their work in the past, and assured them of bis blessing in the future. The retiring president, Mrs. M. Hackett, in reply, thanked His Lordship and expressed the loyalty of the old girls to their college, and their deep and lasting gratitude "to the Sisters. Mother M. Bernard, on behalf of the Sisters, welcomed the old girls hack to their Alma Mater and, in reminding them that in 11 years time the college would lx> celebrating its centenary, enlisted their efforts to endea- \ our to trace all the members (or their families) of the original roll call in 1850.

At the conclusion of the luncheon a gfeneral meeting of the association was held. The following officers were elected: President. Mr*. Stitcliburv; vice-presi-dents, Lady Fuller, Mrs. Hackett, Mrs. Ford. Mrs. Goldwater, Mrs. Cooke, Mrs. H. McCoy. Mrs. Majmire, Mrs. K. A. Sneddon. Miss X. Mahoney, Miss A. Bryant. Miss S. Lynch; secretary, Mis« Grace Dyer; assistant secretary, Miss Xota Casey; treasurer, Miss" Myra Kemble; committee, Mrs. Finnigan, Misses Lulu Drysdale. Eileen Creedon, Moira Bryant. Flynn. June Grevatt. Pat Morron. Marjnrie Hackett. Mary Watthew. Marv DeLaney, Marie Carroll. Maureen Hickev.

The retiring president, Mrs. M. Hackett, was presented with a bouquet by the secretary. Miss Grace Dyer, who expressed the regret of the association in the loss of their efficient and popular president. A gracious welcome was accorded the new president. Mrs. Stitchburv. to whom Mrs. Hackett relinquished the chair of office.

The present pupil* of the college entertained an appreciative audience to a concert. A charming feature nf the concert was a succession of items by old girls, who are still pupils of the School of Music. A basketball match between past and present pupils resulted in a win for the present. Then followed afternoon tea in the college dining room.

Benediction of tlie Most Blessed Nacrament was given by Rev. Father Gardiner, and the day was brought to a fitting conclusion by the ringing of the college hymn, "Mother of Mercy." by the united voices of the past and present pupils.
