TWO MAORIS FINED.
DRIVERS OF OLD CARS.
NO WARRANTS OF FITNESS. This was a very old car, the hood had collapsed, the brakes were defective, there was no warrant of fitness, the vehicle was not registered, and the driver, Toby Koti, had no driver's license, said Inspector N. C. Davenport in the Papakura Court yesterday, when proceeding against Koti, a Maori, for breaches of regulations at Hunua.
The inspector also proceeded against Jimmy Ahu, of Hunua, for operating an old car which he bought for £5, and was not registered, had no warrant of fitness and the driver no license.
The magistrate, Mr. W. H. Freeman, S.M., said tha/t some restriction seemed necessary on second-hand cars. No sale should take place unless a warrant of fitness went with the car.
Both Maoris were fined 10/ on each of the three charges, plus 10/ costs in each case.
