FIRE BOARD'S ACCOUNT.

The nss of the Auckland Fire Brigade's pumping engine during salvaging operations associated with the sinking of ths tug To Awhina will cost the Auckland Harbour Board £148 4/.

Tils figure was decided upon at the annual meeting of the Fire Board this morning, when it was reported that the machine was in use for 48J hours. Forty-seven men had been employed: for 212] hours. On the basis of the hourly charge made by the board under ordinary circumstances, the total charge would nave been £275. In view of the circumstances the board decided to make a reduction.
