"DERBIES" PLANNED.
, BUDGERIGAR SOCIETY. INNOVATIONS FOR NEW SEASON. Decision to hold a North Island and a South Island "derby" during the coming season was made at the monthly meeting of the 3ndgerigar Society of New Zealand. Mr. J. R. Walker presided. The venue of each of these events has not been decided upon, but nominations will close with the secretary, Mr. H. Rusden. Further pla-ns for the summer months include a series of goodwill visits to other clubs, and it is also proposed to organise a roynd of visits by members to one another's aviaries. Girls and boys attending secondary schools who are interested in the budgerigar are being invited to attend the society's meetings, which are held in the Unity Hall, Upper Queen Street, at 8 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of each month. At this month's meeting the cup for the best bird in the society's show was presented to Mrs. Annan, and the Thorne Rose Bowl was presented to Mrs. White. An instructive address on mating and breeding was given by Mr. A. B. Cutler, and a musical item was rendered by Messrs. Rusden and Corringham.
