Master Cyklon (8.10) has boon performing well in the South, and the 'manner in which he won the Murangni Hnmlicnp, one mile and a quarter, at Wiingiinui. that he will see out another two fi-rlonfts. Quadroon (8.7) was narrowly beaten in the Carnavon Gold Cup. one mile and a quarter, at Fnxton earlier in the month, and wae placed at Wangnnni. Last July he won the Parliamentary Handicap, run over 10 furlongs. Kilonsa (B.G) made a bold bid in the Avondale Cup with 8.11, ard woe right up fifth at the finish. She ia meeting King Rey on ">]b better terms now, and would only need to stay on to be very troublesome. Francis Drake (8.5) had some racing at VVanganui ami also at Avondale, and this sjoulil improve him considerably. He has a St. Leyor to his credit, so that he will go the distance all rirfht. He comes in 61b lighter than in the Avondale Cup. and 51b lighter tJian in the Plumpton Handicap rim on the Brcond day of that meeting. Francis Drake will have to be considered. Kena (8.5) was second in the Avondale Cup with 7.0. and with 7.12 won the Plumpton Handicap. He finished on well in

both event*, - and is more than a possibility. Ned Cuttle (8.0) wan third in the Plumpton Handicap with 8.4, after being unplaced In the Avondale Cup. Mazir (7.13) failed in the Avondnle Cup, but that wae bis first outing thie season. He will be racing at L'ucroa during the week-end, and this will probably give a better guide to- his prospects. Mnlaglgi (7.12) won the Nolan flanJieiiD, one in no and a half, at Ellerslic, in the autumn, ' so that the distance will not trouble him. He ran quite a fair rjico in tho Avondale Cup. Some who may be in request now are: Francis 'T>i-ake, Cold Vaal*. King Rey, Master Cyklon, Kenjft and Kilonsa. The Open Sprint. Whirling, Kelly, Silver Jubilee, Royal Bachelor, Alyth and Mai de Mer, who » are engaged in the Shorte Handicap, sixfurlongs, are also in the Flying Handicap, seven furlongs, to be run later in the day. In connection with the former event, Whirling, who is at the head with 9.10, has not raced since tho Great Northern meeting, at which he woe the King George Handicap, seven furlongs, with 8.13. Kelly and Orate have 9.2 and both are recent winners, the former scoring in the open sprint at Avondale last Monday with 8.8, •while Orate annexed the sprint race each day at the recent Wanganui meeting. Golden Sheila (5.13) has not raced for some time, but Jβ stated to be going well at Te Aroha. Gay Seton (8.9) won the Visitors' Handicap, six furlpngs, at tne last Great Northern meeting and has since been successful orer seven furlongs and a quarter at Matamata. Hβ has not raced since. Silver Jubilee and Hoyal Bachelor have each 8.8. The former was fourth at Wanganui, which wae his first race on the flat for a long time and the condition* were not to his liking. Royal Bachelor, though he disappointed at Avondale, may do better at Ellerslie. Hβ has plenty of pace. Majority (8.7) has some good performances in the southern part of tne island and showed up at Avondale. He is a likely improver. Arvakur (8.0) was a good two-y«ar-old last season, but has not started this season. Marie's Acre showed up in the President's Handicap, six turlongs, at Avondale, but failed to get into the money. However, he will be a much better horse the next time out. Alyth (7.9) has beee raoing prominently recently, while Palustre (7.6) and Besiege (70) seem the most likely of the others. The beet ' ncied just now may be Royal Bachelor, Inlilen Sheila, Marie's Acre, Silver Jubilee, V "Jiirling and Majority.
