UNUSUAL TRIBUTES.
MR. HULTQUIST HONOURED.
TRIBUTE BY RESIDENTS.

During the course of an address at Te Araroa, Mr. A. G. Hultquist, Labour candidate, received unusual tributes for his services are representative of the Bav of Plentv.
At the close of the address. Mr. W. F. Metcalfe, president of the local branch of the National party, asked permission to make a statement, and paid an eloquent tribute to the services j rendered by Mr. Hultquisfr, saving that, irrespective of political views, Mr. Hultq"uist had undoubtedly served the electorate well. He could not let the opportunity pass without expressing his personal thanks as well as those of the district. When Mr. Metcalfe concluded his remarks another well-known resident in l the district asked permission to make a statement. He came forward to the platform with a sum of money wrapped in a handkerchief, which he asked Mr. ITultquist to accept as a token of appreciation of the services rendered to the people of Tc Araroa and surrounding districts. The parcel contained £. T »0, which had been collected that day and the previous one. Mr. liultquist was invited to do as lie liked with it.
