NEED GAS MASKS.
POSITION IN DOMINION. CRITICISM BY CANDIDATE. That as far as he could discover there were no pas masks in the Dominion outside of those in the museums, was the contention of Mr. J. E. Close, National party candidate for the Waitemata seat, when speaking at Brown's Bay last evening. 110 said he believed th? civilian | popnlatiin should become familiar with the use of eras masks. Mr. R. H. Marryatt presided over a large gathering o; electors at the Progress Hall. The speaker dealt generally with the weakr.r- e> and undr.-jrable features in the socialistic policy of the Government, and emphasised the desirability of encouraging private enterprise. "He also criticised the Government's policy in relation to the land forces. He was accorded a vote of thanks and confidence.
