L J. ELLIS IN FALL
REMOVED TO HOSPITAL.

The leading flat race rider for last season (L. J. Ellis) was involved is a race rniehap to-day, and, as he appeaiai to be injured, -was removed to hospital for further examination.
Ellis had just ridden Royal Retrain into third place in the Ohapi Hack Handicap, and, after passing the winning post, the horse stumbled and fell, throwing Ellis over the running rail. It ha« been ascertained that Ellis received a severe scalp wound on the back of the head, and that serious complications are unlikely.
