At the Otahuhu Police Court yesterday, Roy Durant. a holder of a* poods license for a service between Thames and Ohinemuri, but which did not include Auckland, was charged with carrying goods from the city.

Mr. R. W. F. Wood, for defendant, said there were no other carriers on the route, and Durant foolishly obliged two customers without applying for the additional permit.

Ingpector Hodgson said it was difficult to detect cases of this kind, as the work was often clone in the night The magistrate, Mr. W. R. McßLean imposed a fine of £2 and 10/ costs| and commented on defendant's lack of candour.
