The Stock Exchange has been completely at the mercy of the international crisis, though fluctuations in prices reflecting almost hourly waves of hope and fear have been largely technical, as both buying and selling have been at a low ehb. Investors have shown remarkable fortitude considering the gravity of the situation. The markets finished the week raggedly. • Sterling has been subject to almost continuous pressure throughout the week. (Jold turnover has continued at a high level, and it is estimated that alnnit half of the £14.000,000 worth exported to the United States was sent on official account.
Activity in commodities has been considerable, and the outlook for almost all commodities appears good as reports from America indicate that business is continuing to expand.

Hungary has protested against the partial Czeehoslovakian mobilisation near her border as unwarranted.
POLISH REACTION.
SAME RIGHTS AS SUDETENS. (Received 1.30 p.m.) WARSAW, September 16. The first authoritative Polish reaction is that Poles residing in Czechoslovakia must be granted the same rights as Sudetens. Semi-official papers demand restoration to Poland of lands beyond Olza.
STAND BY BRITAIN.
LOYAL MAHARAJAH'S NOTE. (Received 11 a.m.) CALCUTTA, September 16. The Maharajah of Bikaner telegraphed the Viceroy that he was placing the sword and army and the resources of his State unreservedly at the disposal of the King and Emperor.
