AMUSEMENTS

MR. FREDERICK P. WOOD, director of the National Young Life Campaign in England, has added another to his little books for young men and women— "Questionable Amusements" (Marshall, Morgnn and Scott). Its aim is to help them to decide regarding certain pastimes, hobbies and amusements, whether they should engage in them or not. Mr.

Wood writes -with understanding and sympathy, and with the Bible at his elbow. A saying of John Wesley's mother, which he quotes, may be described as the motto of the book: "Whatever weakens your reason, impairs the tenderness of your conscience, obscures your sense of" God, increases the strength and authority of Your body over your mind—that thing is wronjr, however innocent it may be in itself." All his readers may not be impressed by 6oine of his arguments, but all of them will be the better for knowing them and reflecting on them. 0
