FOR FIRE STATION.
COMPENSATION CLAIM. Tlie Fire Board's offer to Joseph Zambucca of £512.) for his J-acre section and two shops in Pitt Street, taken under the Public Works Act by the board for a new brigade station site, wa» disclosed in evidence yesterday afternoon before Mr. Justice Pair, sitting with the Hon. J. Alexander, M.L.C., and Mr. W. H. Lunn as assessors, in a claim by Mr. Zambucca for £11,500 compensation. Mr. V. R. Meredith conducted the case for claimant and Mr. A. K. North represented the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board.
Ranfurly Smith, land valuer, acting for the board, said that he made the offer to claimant of £512-5. That sum was assessed on his valuation of the land at £42 10/ a foot frontage, and of the buildings at £10(55.
After Victor Clay, l»nd valuer, had given his independent valuation of the land at £4205 (on a £45 a frontage foot basis) and bnildings at £1100. a total of £5305, the Court adjourned till Monday.
