JUNIOR NATIONAL LEAGUE DANCE.
Enjoyable Function At Glendowie Club.
Spring flowers in all shades decorated the Glendowie Country Club last night, when the Auckland East branch of the National party held an enjoyable dance. Bowls of stocks in rose pink and
lilac shades decorated the lounges, while golden Iceland poppies a.nd daffodils and scarlet anemones were arranged in the entrance hall and lobby.. In the lounges cheerful fires added much to the comfort of the guests.
Special guests of the committee were Mr. H. "P. Merritt and Mrs. Merritt. Mrs. Merritt was wearing a frock of crepe suede, patterned in turquoise, cherry and green shades. During the evening Mr. Merritt addressed the gather)np. Mrs. Francis Sprague, the chairman of the hall committee, presented sprays to Mrs. Merritt and Lady Robertson. A telegram was received from Mrs. .T. Ci. Coates regretting her inability to be present, and wishing the committee success with the balL
The ladies of the ball committee comprised: Lady Robertson (patroness), Mrs. Francis Sprague (chairman), Lady Horton, Lady Bankart, Mrs. Alan Donald, Mrs. Relwyn Morris, Mrs. Trevor Brett, Mrs. Scott Wilson, Mrs. Brian Kingston, Mrs. D. L. Johnston, Mri. Gordon Bartleet, Mrs. Jack Parr, Mrs. J. Lamb, Mrs. Selwyn Robertson, Miss Jean Kent. Miss Marjorie Mappin, Miss Cecily Tattley, Miss Nancy Bamford, Miss Ynys Wallace and Miss Peggy Robertson (honorary secretary).
On arrival the guests were received by Sir Carrick and Lady Robertson, the patrons of the ball. Lady Robertson was wearing a frock of ivory and gold brocaded satin, with a white fur wrap.
Among the committee members present were: Lady Bankart, who was wearing a frock of vintage shot taffeta, sprigged with white; Mrs. Francis Sprague. in black lacquered satin; Mrs. Brian Kingston, in jade green georgette; Mrs. Trevor Brett, in black panne velvet; Mrs. D. L. Johnston, bla<-k net relieved with petunia flowers; Mrs. Scott Wilson, striped taffeta, in red, black, yellow and blue shades; Mrs. Jack Parr, white georgette; Miss Cecily Tattley. midnight blue georgette; Miss Peggy Robertson, white crepe suede. Among the other guests were: Mrs. X. R. Wilson, Mrs. Geoffrey Upton, Mrs. Alfred Kidd. Mrs. Keith Angus, Mrs. Noel Airev, Mrs. Levering Russell, Mrs. Ronald Corson, Mrs. H. Wilcox, Mrs. B. Jacob, Mrs. Reginald Humphries Mrs. Alan Motion (Waiuku), Mrs. J. Hamilton, Mrs. N. Lowe, Mrs. Vernon Brown, Mrs. Warwick Wilson.
