THE MENACE OF WAR.
Tt is interesting to note that this WW menace became active after the ex-Priee Minister of Britain publicly said: "Avoid Wtt at any cost." That gave the clue the dictate* wanted, although uttered probably to eho« there wa« no alliance against them, mil Czechoslovakia ie now the remaining bait for conquest; then Italy, the Mediterranean Africa and Europe would he at the mercy of Oermany. But can anyone imagine, even if Italy is faithful, that Germany would ventnre to confront Britain, France. Russia and possibly Turkey, all the smaller nations *b4 possibly America, and the literally stupendous power in men. material and money? That would eeem an impossibility. The GermaM feel that they are safe to gloat over the cobeternation they are causing, but if they do attack we will suffer, and eo will they—almoet to annihilation. And if they do not know that, then their subjugation would be complete. If all the peaceful nations said, "Stop your ineane folly, or we will compel yon," and if Germany *till remained defiant, then her power must be immensely greater than we know. Japan is hopelessly entangled ie China, and seems likely to have the "bendel knee threat 7, reversed. WILLIAM R. KEAY.
