DERBY ASPIRANT.
KINGDOM PROMISING. WIN AT CAULFIELD. EASING UP AT FINISH. Kingdom, who is a candidate for the Derbies, started favourite and put up a good performance to win the Warriston Handicap at Caiillicld on September Third list, at tiie live furlongs, lie jjot a good run through tin. , centre of the field to be fourth entering the straight, and, dashing up to the lender. Liana, a furlong from home, lie finished on strongly to defeat the late-coming Caption, with (iomi Boy a fair third.
Kingdom is an attntctive-lookiiig colt by Thracian, and lie carries Mr. A. T. Creswick's colours. He lias always shown .signs of bcinjf a stayer, and in winning lie proved, that lie is a colt likely to win good class races over a distance. The early leader was Itosado, and that filly was still clear of the Held with half a mile to go, but soon 11 fterwaias Liana moved up to her, Willie Beau Frere was well placed,-as was Wiled Prophet and Adherent. It was at thin stage that Kingdom began to improve his position. On the turn he was racing sluggishly. and Voitre gave him a rut or two. and he quickly settled down to his business. It took him little effort to cut down Liana, and right on the post Voitre was easing him up. (Viption finished remarkably well to run second, and it. seems as if this colt is going to stay. <!ood Boy was with Kingdom at the half mile, and he went through 011 the inside. He made a dash at the distance that mule him look dangerous, but Kingdom finished too well for him. Adherent had every chance and ran quite a good, rice .as he was well placed most of the way.
