DAMAGED TUG.
PLATES TO BE REPLACED.
COMPLETE IN FIVE WEEKS,
It is expected that the .Auckland Harbour Board's tug Te Awhina, which was refloated a week ago and is now on the St. Mary's Bay slipway, will be ready for commission in about five weeks' time. Repairs to the hull will be completed early next week.
The damaged plates on the port side of the vessel, where she was holed in two places by the starboard propeller of tbe Federal Line's motor-ship Essex, are now being cut away by workmen and a start will shortly be mode with the riveting into position of the new plates. Most of the, work in the engine room remains to be done and the main engines will be taken down and carefully cleaned. The electrical equipment has yet to be dismantled and tested. The boilers will also be tested thoroughly, and other work will include the straight., ening of the mast, small repairs to the superstructure and gainting. " J
