RIDER HURT.
HORSE REARS ON TO CAR.
Mr. John Anderson, aged 21, of PuhiRuhi, suffered a compound fracture of the right arm and abrasions when he lost control of the horse he was riding and the animal jumped on to a passin" motor car. The incident occurred when Mr. Anderson was riding along the main road near Hukerenui at 10.30 p.m. on Saturday.
The horse reared on its hind legs as a motor car, driven by Mr. James sFdney Bates, was passing, and crashed on to the bonnet of the car, smashing the windscreen and radiator a* well as causing other uamage. The car stopped almost immediatly, as the horse and rider fell to the ground. Mr. Anderson wae brought to Hikurangi by a passing motorist. There he was attended by Dr. D: Armstrong before being taken to the Whangarei Hospital, where his condition is satisfactory. Neither the driver of the car nor the occupants were hurt, although the car was so extensively damaged that it could not be driven away. The horse escaped injury but for several cuts.
