YOUNG MEN ARRESTED
WRESTLING SENSATION.
INTERFERED WITH BOUT.

A sensational incident occurred in the Miners' Theatre on Saturday night during the professional heavy-weight wrestling match between Al Dane (Australia) and Fred Batros (Syria).
Two young men came running from the back of the hall during the progress of the fifth round, scrambled through the ropes, and, it is alleged, rushed the two wrestlers.
The contestants and public alike were taken completely by surprise, some of the audience apparently being under the impression that it was part of the show. A melee followed in the ring, in which the referee, Mr. L. H. Chambers, of Auckland, three or four of the seconds, some of the officials and the police were involved. The young intruders were hustled out of the ring.
The wrestler Dune then left the rin" and said he would not continue the bout in the circumstances. Batros, however remained in the ring. He had obtained a tall in the third round.
Shouts came from the audience to carry on the wrestling, but Dane had retired to his dressing room. The referee raised the Syrian's arm, indicating he liad been awarded the decision. In the meantime the two youn* men were escorted from the hall knd lodged in the lock-up. ° This niorninp the two young men appeared „ the Police Court charged with disorderly behaviour while drunk Thev were remanded.
