DANCE AT TOTARA PARK.

Lady Orford and Lady Gunson Entertain

To say farewell to the many friends she has made in New Zealand, the Countesa of Orford was joint hostess with Lady Gunson last evening at an enjoyable .dance held in Totara Park, the home of Sir Jamee and Lady Gunsoh' at Manurewa. During > their periodic Visits to New Zealand -Udy Orford and Jicr daughter. Lady Anne Walpole, have made a wide circle of friends, and at Fotaia lark last night manv Aucklandeie were gathered together to bid them farewell.

The lovely home of Lady Gunson made a charming setting for the dance. The beautiful old trees of the park were decorated for the occasion with hundreds ot gaily-coloured lights; and on the lar~e lawn just outride the house a marquee had been erected, where during the evening supper was served. The house itself and the ballroom were decorated with laige bowls of spriii" blossom and irises, and the marquee, too 5 , looked very attractive with its bowls of lovely flowers. The guests were received bv Ladv Orford and Sir Jamea and Lady Gunson, assisted by Mr. Tim Gunson. Lady Orford received her guests wearing a graceful frock of cameo pink pebble crepe, inlet at tr.ne side with accordionpleated sky blue chiffon. A cape of blue chiffon was worn with the dress as well as turquoise ornaments. Lady Gunson was wearing a frock of craquelle crepe -in pastel lavender shades made with an attractive eapc effect. Lady Anne Walpole was in a frock of magnolia taffeta relieved with diamond ornaments, and Miss Juliet Kid ley wore a frock of royal blue lace. As well as saying farewell to Lady Orford and her daughter, an opportunity was taken by the guests last night to wish Miss Juliet Ridley many happy returns of the day on the occasion of her first birthday in New 2ealand. Miss Kidlcy has been the guest of Lady Orford during her stay in New Zealand. During an interval in supper Miss Ridley's health was proposed by Sir James Gunson and a large birthday cake was cut.
