MUSIC LOVERS' CLUB.
VARIED PROGRAMME
The monthly meeting of the Music Lovers' Club was held in the rooms of the Overseas League on Thursday evening when a programme of a high standard was presented under the direction of the president, Mr. Walter Impett. Tlie pianoforte solos, "Impromptu in A Flat'' (Chopin) and •'Novelette in F" (Schumann) were played by Miss Gwynneth Coleman. The instrumental section also included the violin solos, "Spanish Dance" (Relifeld) and "The Old Refrain" (Kreisler) interpreted by Mr. Clive Smythe, and the instrumental quartet arrangement of airs from Gilbert and Sullivan, and "Good Night" (Pinsuti). These were played by Messrs. A. Long (Ist violin), R. Frith (2nd violin). S. Slater (viola) and R. Pawson ('cello). The well-varied vocal numbers included: "When all was Young," from "Faust" (Gounod), "By Dimpled Brook" (Arne), sung by Miss F.ileen Yeoman; two German songis. "Sapphic Ode" (Brahms) and "Nali Dir" (Cowen), by Miss Alcie Harrisson: "The Maids of Cadiz" (Delibes) and "Poppies in the Garden" (Ivor Davies). by Miss Verna Wishart; "Drink to Me Only" (air Roger Quilter), "If I Might Only Come to You" (W. H. Squire), "Phantom Fleets" (Alan Murray), sung by Mr. Noel Sly; "GentleFlowers in the Dew," from "Faust" (Gounod), "Yesterday and To-day" (Spross), by Mrs. Norman Dimery; and the vocal duets. "I Wandered Lonely as a Cloud" (Thiman) and "Meg Merrilies" (Stanford), sung by Miss Verner Wishart and Miss Alcie Harrisson. The accompanists were Miss Winnifred Cooke, Miss Mollv Cater, Miss Marjorie Seel and Mr. Walter Impett.
