EARLY ELECTION.
WHIP'S ANNOUNCEMENT. ADVICE TO ELECTORS. According to an announcement made by Mr. R. McKeen, M.P. for Wellington South, and Chief Government Whip, on Wednesday night, the general election will take place earlier than most people think. Mr. McKeen was speaking at St. Thomas' Hall, Newtown (reports the "Evening Post"), and he said that within a few weeks the Labour candidates would be on the hustings and would be prepared to justify all that had been done. He warned electors not to take it for granted that their names were on the roll, but to take the earliest opportunity to examine the roll. It was possible that the supplementary roll would close within the next three weeks. Though an elector voted in the last election it was not certain that his na-me was on the list, and polling day was a little late'to find out about such an omission. One of his committee, who had assisted him in several elections, had found on looking over the roll that his name and the names of all of his family had been erased. The only guarantee against omission was for an elector to make personally sure he was included.
