ROOPE ROOSTER.

TO-MORROWS- GAMES. EIGHT TEAMS ENGAGED. CAN SHORE PUT MARIST OFF THEIR PERCH ? Eight teams will take part in the Auckland Rugby League's Roope Rooster competition to-morrow. Marist, the champion club team of the season, which defeated Huntly last Saturday by a margin of two points, have been drawn to meet North Sho»e in the principal match, and as both teams have been playing well throughout the season a close contest is expected. Both teams are strong in the forwards, while the Marist backs have built up a very effective back combination. Ponsonby will meet Richmond in the earlier match, and with both teams at full strength there may be little between them at the end of the play. Both teams are strong both in the backs and forwards, and under favourable conditions can play bright and open footballCity have been drawn to meet Xewton, and a keen game is anticipated. The former have made steady improvement throughout the season, and last Saturday defeated a strong Mount Albert team, a result which came as a general surprise. In view of the fine form that City showed against Mount Albert their meeting with Xewton, one of the best club teams, will attract considerable interest. Manukau will play Papakura, on the Papakura ground, and a good game is anticipated in view of the fact that the latter put up a good showing against North Shore in a friendly match last Saturday. It is expected that this match will prove a big local attraction, in vie-s----of the colourful play of the Manukau team. MARIST OLD BOYS. Senior.—Glover. Mldgely. Haflaa, Matthews, Halsey. Chalmers.
