MOTHER CHARGED.
COMMITTED FOR SENTENCE. A single woman, Peggy Marion Allardice, aged 22, was charged in the Police Court yesterday that on or about August 11 she did dispose of the dead body of her child with intent to conceal the fact that she had been delivered of the child. The body of the female infant was found in a building in Myers Park. In his evidence Dr. Walter Gilmour, pathologist at the Auckland Hospital, eaid the injuries to the skull were consistent with the girl's explanation how the child had fallen at the time of birth. The lungs were expanded, showing that the infant had breathed.
According to a statement give"h by the accused to Detective Gillum, she stated that after finding that th 6 child was dead she wrapped it up in paper and left it in Myers Park. Accused, for whom Mr. Aekins appeared, pleaded guilty and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. She was allowed bail in her own recognisance on condition that she remained with the Salvation Army in the meantime. Inquest Held. Yesterday the city coroner, Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., concluded the inquest into the death of the child, and returned a verdict that death wu due to & fractured skull. I
