In an attempt at Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah, yesterday, upon the land speed record of 345.49 miles an hour established last Saturday by Captain G. E. T. Eyston, the British driver, Mr.' John Cobb, reached a speed estimated at 300 miles an hour on his first run, and in a second attempt about 325 miles an hour. The conditions were not favourable. Mr. Cobb will make another attempt at the record on Saturday. COMMISSION LEAVES. EXCHANGE OF PRISONERS. | RUGBV, August 31. Field-Marshal Sir Philip Chetwode, Colonel li. A. Hay and Mr. H. C.
